Purposes

The purpose of the Educational Program "Electric power engineering" is to provide comprehensive and quality training of qualified, competitive specialists in the field of electric power on the basis of a combination of modern educational technologies and educational techniques for the formation of personal and professional qualities and development of creative potential of students. The objective of the program is to prepare a new generation of graduates in the field of electricity in two ways: "Green energy" and "Smart grid»
The field of professional activity of bachelors includes a set of technical means, methods and methods of human activity for the production, transmission, distribution, conversion, application of electric energy, energy flow control, development and manufacture of elements, devices and systems that implement these processes.
The objects of professional activity of bachelors are:electric power stations and substations; electric power systems and networks; systems of power supply of objects of engineering and industries; electric power, electrical, electro-physical and technological installation of the high voltage; the device of automatic control and relay protection in the electric power industry.
Possible places of work: production organizations, service companies, research and design organizations, etc.
Positions for which the graduate can apply: Junior engineering positions; master of electrical equipment; specialist in the development of electric drive and power supply schemes; specialist in the collection of materials, documentation for design, design results

Results

ON1
Demonstrates basic knowledge in the field of natural science (social, humanitarian, economic) disciplines that contribute to the formation of a highly educated person with a broad Outlook and culture of thinking; defines the foundations of the legal system and legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan; legal moral and ethical standards in the field of professional activity. Argues and analyzes philosophical problems; situations of interpersonal communication. Demonstrates oral and written skills, including in a foreign language, computer technologies for communication, presentation, reporting and exchange of technical information in the field of electric power and electrical engineering.
ON2
Substantiates the laws of electrical circuits; schemes and formulas for calculating circuits; theory and experimental techniques in the design, testing and production of electrical appliances and power electronics devices. Argues for the use of modern technical tools and information technologies to solve analytical and research problems. Explains the use of mathematical software packages for calculating electrical problems. Uses tools for solving mathematical and physical problems in the field of electrical engineering.

ON3
Master the methodology of selecting materials for the design of various electrical devices, taking into account the conditions of their operation. Provides maintenance and operation of insulation, protection equipment, generators, transformers in power supply networks. Forms the principles of operation and design features of electric drives for General industrial purposes, switching devices. Performs metrological verification of the main measuring instruments for parameters of power stations and substations. Selects technical means for testing electrical equipment and objects of electric power and electrical engineering.

ON4
Applies energy-saving technology in electric power plants. Develops power supply for industrial enterprises, non-traditional and renewable energy sources, electrical engineering, electrical insulation and cable technology. Selects the composition of equipment in the schemes of electrical objects and applies electronic control and automation devices in them; evaluates the construction and operation modes of power supply systems; determines the parameters of the replacement scheme of the main elements of electric power systems and networks. Participates in the planning, preparation and execution of scientific experiments and processing of experimental data. Solves the tasks of organizing and rationing the labor of objects of professional activity.

ON5
Selects devices for relay protection and automation of electric power facilities; makes electrical diagrams. Applies regulatory and legal documents, including on labor protection and electrical safety in production. Applies regulatory documents when choosing the type of electric machine, transformer and generator; works to improve the organization of electric energy production, its technology. Performs installation, operation and repair of power technology equipment. Applies equipment of switchgear substations in power supply systems

ON6
Assesses the possibility of ensuring the quality of electricity in the projected network. Designs the electrical part of power plants and substations. Estimates power and electricity losses in the electrical circuits of stations and substations. Analyzes modern methods of developing energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies. Evaluates the design of external and internal power supply networks; evaluates the energy potentials of energy sources; analyzes the behavior of automation devices in the event of an emergency in the power system.

ON7
Analyzes the main technical and economic requirements for the designed devices and systems. Evaluates the design of computer systems for technological management and control using SCADA systems. Evaluates the ability to project work in the appropriate direction. Evaluates the construction and operation modes of power supply systems, works with educational and, if necessary, scientific and reference literature on the power industry.

ON8
Demonstrates communication skills in the community and professional environment. Works in a group, offers new solutions, compares his opinion with the opinion of the team, resolves conflict situations, develops communication skills necessary for interaction with people. Adequately interprets the information received, as well as correctly transmits it; participates in the organization of the work of the team of performers.
